A new study just published on Feb 2011 in the journal of cancer makes a strong argument for applying hyperbaric oxygenation therapy (HBOT) for those patients who have had either surgery or radiation therapy for brain tumors. The study followed patients who had been treated with HBOT and there was a marked improvement in cognitive [...]

Hyperthermia Therapy

Localized hyperthermia treatment now incorporates radio frequencies and short waves, and this combination is most effective in the treatment of localized tumors and prostate enlargement.  German urologist Dr. Dorothea Alleman says complications due to electrochemical treatment (ECT) are rare and to this day, there are no known mortalities. The success rate for this local hyperthermia treatment is between 70-90% for stage I and II cancers, she says, and this new approach generally avoids progression to the serious cancer stages III and IV. ECT has also been used successfully in breast, esophagus, liver, bladder, and skin cancers.

Tumors form blood vessels which feed them and help them grow.  This study suggests that whole-body hyperthermia reduces the formation of blood vessels by tumors.Sawaji Y, et al.  Anti-angiogenic action of hyperthermia by suppressing gene expression and production of tumour-derived vascular endothelial growth factor in vivo and in vitro.  Br J Cancer  2002 May 20;86(10):1597-603.

Fever-range whole body hyperthermia was demonstrated to have no adverse effects on heart, liver, kidney, or lungs.

Natural killer cells, the white blood cells that can kill cancer cells, have been found to be increased in mice after whole body hyperthermia.  The treatment was low temperature, long duration.  Other white blood cells were found to be increased at the tumor site and persisted for two weeks following treatment.
